  14. 1st of January • We celebrate the New Year with our family. • We eat Vasilopita. Back to Calendar

  15. 6th of January • We celebrate the Theofania (Divine Appearance) or Fota (Lights) • We celebrate the Baptism of Christ. • The children sing the Theofania’s carrols. Back to Calendar

  16. 31st of January • We celebrate the 3 Saints of the students and of the literature. • The children don’t go to school. Back to Calendar

  17. 14th of February • We celebrate the Valentine’s Day. • It’s the lovers day. • The couples give presents, flowers or chocolate to each other. Back to Calendar

  18. 20th of February • We celebrate Tsiknopempti (Meat-Thursday) • We eat a lot of meat. Back to Calendar

  19. 23rd of February • We celebrate Apokries. • We dress up with different costumes like: spiderman, sumo and ninja etc. Back to Calendar

  20. 3rd of March • We celebrate Kathara Deutera (Ash Monday). • We don’t go to school. • We fly kites. • We fast. Back to Calendar

  21. 25th of March • We celebrate the Greek War of Independence (Greek Revolution) • We don’t have school but we do a parade on the streets. • We honour the day of our Revolution against the Turkish possession. Back to Calendar

  22. 1st of April • We make jokes to our friends. • We have fun with our jokes. Back to Calendar

  23. 13th of April • Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. • We don’t go to school. We go to the church with our family. Back to Calendar

  24. 20th of April • We roast on a long and big skewer a lamb. • We cling red-painted eggs • We spend time with our family. • In the morning we go to the church. Back to Calendar

  25. 1st of May • We make rimsof flowers. • Nobody works on this day because many years ago the people went out on the streets and complained for bad working conditions. • A lot of people were injured but they won their fight. Back to Calendar

  26. 15th of June • The are happy because on this day the summer holidays begin. Back to Calendar

  27. 15th of August • We honour the sleep of the mother of Christ (Mary). • In the morning we go to the church. • In the night we go to street fest with dances, food and wine. Back to Calendar

  28. 15th of September • It’s the end of the summer holidays. • The children go back to school for the new school year. Back to Calendar

  29. 28th of October • We celebrate the day we said no to the Germans. Back to Calendar

  30. 25th of December • We celebrate Christmas. • We eat turkey, we drink wine and we open our Christmas presents. Back to Calendar
