  3. Interest Groups • Encourage or prevent changes in public policy without trying to be elected.

  4. Group Negatives • Both groups have a lot of money • Often “buy votes” • Or “buy legislators” • Do you think this is fair?

  5. Agencies • Government Corporation • Independent Agency • Executive Agency

  6. Government Corporation • Corporations within the executive branch subject to the presidents direction and control • Set up by congress to carry out certain business-like activities

  7. Independent Agency Additional agencies created by congress located outside the cabinet departments

  8. Executive Agency • Carry out much of the work of the Federal government.
