  3. 1.1 Downloading the OIV You must be logged in to Artstor to download the full OIV. Go to Tools > Download Offline Viewer Read and accept to the Terms and Conditions Use We will be using the newest version of the OIV to date, the OIV 3.1

  4. 1.2 Installing on a Mac When prompted, save the OIV file to the Desktop. Once it has been downloaded, the .zip file should automatically decompress itself into a .dmg file. The .dmg file will automatically open. Drag the OIV icon into the Applications folder on the Hard Drive Once you have moved the icon you can Trash both the .zip and .dmg file

  5. 1.3 Installing on a PC When prompted, save the OIV file to your Desktop. Expand the .zip file and double-click on the installer. Follow the directions and a new icon should appear on your desktop. PC users may have to Unblock the OIV when they open the it for the first time.

  6. 1.4 Authenticating Open the OIV. A box will open asking you if you want create a new presentation, edit an existing presentation or import a Powerpoint file. If you choose to use Artstor images you will be prompted to enter your Artstor ID and password to connect to Artstor. The OIV must authenticate by connecting to Artstor every 120 days. When your authentication expires you will be automatically prompted to authenticate when you open the OIV, or you can go to Help > Authenticate OIV at any time. You may still use your local images through the OIV, but you will need to authenticate to reacquire full access to Artstor images. Choose Create a new presentation from Artstor images and log in

  7. 1.4 Double-click on a folder, then double-click on a group to see thumbnails. Click on the Download button to download all images in that group This may take several minutes…

  12. 2.1 Importing Artstor Images Additional Artstor images can be imported using the Insert menu or the Image Palette button

  13. 2.2 Importing Local Images Use the Insert menu or the Image Palette button to import images from your computer into the OIV, or just drag and drop images into the Image Palette Find the image(s) on your computer and click Add

  14. 2.3 Importing PowerPoints Use the Insert menu or the Image Palette button. Each PowerPoint screen will show up in the Slide Sorter as a new slide. Note: Some elements may not import.

  15. 3.1 Adding Images Create a new slide by clicking one of the Add slide buttons Choose a slide layout:

  16. 3.1 Images can be added to the new slide in two ways: 1) Drag an image from the Image Palette to the image box in the new slide

  17. 3.1 2) Select one or more images (Shift+click) from the Image Palette and click the Create slides from selected images button

  18. 3.1 To add another image to a slide use the Insert menu > Add an image A new image box will appear in the center of the slide. Drag the box where you want it, then drag a new image from the Image Palette into the box.

  19. 3.2 Adding Text Click the Add text box on the Slide Editor or use Insert > Add a text box menu Click and drag the box to move it Double click to add text Use the handles around the perimeter to resize the box

  20. 3.3 Formatting Text Highlight the text and click the Change the font button on the Slide Editor, or highlight and use the Format > Text > Font menu

  21. 3.4 Adding Shapes Click on the Add Shape button or use the Insert > Add a Shape menu

  22. 3.5 Formatting Shapes Edit the shape by clicking the Edit Properties button or using the Format > Properties menu

  23. 3.6 Zoomable Images With a large enough image you can use the Zoom slide templates to allow movement in and out during our presentation Templates with magnifying glasses are zoomable Insert images just as you would with a regular template

  24. 4.1 Sorting Slides Reorder slides in the Slide Sorter by clicking and dragging slides from one position to another

  25. 4.2 Saving a Presentation Click File > Save or Save As… to save all or part of a presentation Choose Save Read-Only Slide Presentation if you intend to allow others to view your presentation outside of class.

  26. 5.1 Presenting Click the Slide Presentation button in either the Slide Sorter or the Slide Editor. Or use the View > View Slide Presentation menu Your presentation will start with instructions for moving through the presentation superimposed on the first slide. Unclick the Show quick help box to prevent this in the future

  27. 5.2 Traveling Software The OIV is not installed on every machine in the world. As a result, it is a good idea to take a copy of the OIV on your thumb drive, take the OIV installer with you, or run your presentation from your personal laptop. If you do not have Administrator privileges on a computer you want to use, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INSTALL THE OIV. If you are giving a lecture outside of UO, ask the systems administrator if you can run or install the OIV before you take the time to build your presentation, or if you can use a laptop.

  28. 5.3 Uploading to Artstor OIV slides can be added to My Personal Collection on Artstor. Click on the Upload selected slides to Artstor button in the Slide Sorter or go to File > Upload All Slides You will be asked to log in to Artstor Slides will appear in the OIV Slides group in My Personal Collection

  29. 5.3 Personal images can also be added to My Personal Collection from the OIV. Select the images from the Image Palette (Shift+click for multiple images) and click the Add selected images to Artstor button or go to File > Upload selected images(s) The images will appear under My Personal Collection
