  2. LINCS means: • Listthe parts • Identify a reminding word • Note a LINCing story • Create a LINCing picture • Self-test

  3. Section One: The Term • This section provides a space for an unfamiliar term or vocabulary word.

  4. Section Two: The Reminding Word • This is a common word that you already know that you can associate with your new vocabulary term. It should SOUND similar to the new term AND be a word you already know.

  5. Section Three: The Essential Definition • The part of a definition that is most important in understanding the new vocabulary

  6. Section Four: The LINCing Story • An effective LINCing story has several characteristics: • The story ALWAYS contains the Reminding Word • The story SOMETIMES also contains the new term • The story helps students recall the meaning of the new term • The story is short and simple.

  7. Section Five: The LINCing Picture • This is a simple picture that depicts in some way, the essential features of the new term’s definition. • You should use elements from your reminding words to help you create this picture. • REMEMBER: stick figures are A-OK!
