  2. Salaries The average salary actually varies depending on experience. Border patrol agents are hired at three different pay levels. They include GL-5, GL-7, and GL-9. GL-5 may get paid $ 38,000 a year GL- 7 may get paid $ 43,000 a year GL- 9, being the highest will get paid around $ 50,000 a year. Agents who have been in the field for more than 10 years are capable of making up to $ 85,000 a year,

  3. Requirements and qualifications Must be a United States citizen Must possess a valid automobile drivers license You must take and pass the CBP Border Patrol entrance examination. Your résumé must completely and specifically describe your job duties that you want considered in the determination. All transcripts, grade-point calculations, and other documentation must be submitted to the CBP Minneapolis Hiring Center.
