Scanning Stations • The following tutorial will assist you in learning how to scan images and documents. • Images may be Photos, Graphics, Line-drawings or even Documents. • Documents may be scanned with a text recognition program giving a fast and easy way to turn paper documents into digital files you can edit. • Scanners are located in the following computer labs… • Social Science Building Room 103 (SSB103) • Thomas Jefferson Library Commons (TJ 316) • Benton Hall Computer Lab (BH232) • Ward E. Barnes Library (WEB100) • Music 105 • FA 220

  3. Scanning pictures using VueScan • Place the picture on the scanner and close the cover. • Open VueScan by double-clicking the icon located on the computer’s desktop.

  4. Scanning pictures using VueScan • Follow the steps in VueScan. • When you are done with each step, click “Next” button to go to the next step.

  5. Scanning pictures using VueScan • When you are done with scanning, VueScan will automatically show you the window where you can choose your picture saving location. • VueScan is set for JPEG picture format by default.

  6. Scanning pictures using Photoshop • Open Adobe Photoshop. • Start Programs Scanner Adobe Photoshop

  7. Scanning pictures using Photoshop(This only works on Windows Machines) • Place the picture on the scanner and close the cover. • Go to File Import CanoScan LiDE 60

  8. Scanning pictures using Photoshop • Select your source • Click ‘Preview’ • Select destination • Select output size • Adjust black frame to the area you want to scan • Click ‘Scan’

  9. Scanning pictures using Photoshop • When you are done with scanning, close ScanGear CS window. • To save your picture go to File and click on Save As. • Type in the name • Chose the format. For example ‘JPEG’ • Click ‘Save’.

  10. Scanning text documents • Put your text sheet on the scanner and close the cover. • Open OmniPage SE. • Double click the icon on the desktop.

  11. Scanning text documents • For quick scan, click on 1-2-3. • If you wish to have more control over the process, switch the program from it default automatic setting to the manual controls click OCR Wizard.

  12. Scanning text documents • If errors are detected in the document, the OCR Proofreader window will appear. • You can ignore or correct the error by simply typing in ‘Suspect word’ field. • When all errors have been addressed the completion window will be displayed. • Click OK to continue.

  13. Scanning text documents • After the proofread is done, the Save As window will appear. • Choose the destination for your file. • Type in your file name. • Chose your file type. For example, Microsoft Word 2000, XP (*.doc).
