Chapter 1 Audio and Plot/Main Idea • Hakeem had a problem with his speech. • Roylin made fun of Hakeem. • Hakeem gave a speech on Macbeth in English Class. • Mr. Keenan was the English teacher. • Hakeem was a talented musician. • Hakeem and Darcy entered the talent show. • Dad gets along well with Jamee. • Brisana makes Darcy jealous of Hakeem.. Chapter 2 Audio and Plot/Main Idea • Brisana and Darcy were fighting about Hakeem. • Hakeem asked Darcy to go with him to the track meet. • Darcy saw Brisana in the hallway. • Darcy is jealous when she saw Briasana riding on the motorcycle with Hakeem. • Brisana was mad at Darcy. • Brisana was Jealous of Darcy for being friends with Cooper and Tarah. Chapter 3 Audio and Plot/Main Idea • Mom was nagging Jamee about her loud music. • Mom keeps coming home tired from the hospital. • Hakeem invited Darcy to the track meet. • Darcy met Hakeem’s parents. • Hakeem is racing a boy from Lincoln High School. • Mr. Randall is cheering for Hakeem. • The 400-meter dash began with Hakeem introducing his parents to Darcy and continued with Hakeem racing a boy at Lincoln High School and ended with Mr. Randall cheering Chapter3

Chapter 4 Audio and Plot/Main Idea • Aunt Charlotte made one of her “cooking creations”. • Aunt Charlotte decided that Grandma should go to a retirement home. • The trip conversation began with Aunt Charlotte saying she wanted to go to France, continued with Aunt Charlotte asking Darcy to go, and ended with Darcy saying “No.” • Darcy wants to stay home to help Grandma. • Check your notes pages for more sentences Chapter 4

Chapter 5 Audio and Plot/Main Idea • The picnic began with Darcy smelling the food. • Darcy told Tarah, “Happy Birthday!” and watched Cooper cook on the grill. • The birthday party began with Tarah, Darcy, Cooper and Hakeem having fun, continued with Roylin driving up and picking on Hakeem, and ended with Roylin and Hakeem getting into a fight. • Roylin got shot by the gangsters in the champagne colored Nissan.   10. Chapter 6 Audio and Plot/Main Idea • 1. Chapter 6 began with Grandma getting angry and continued with Darcy trying to make grandma use the walker. Lastly, grandma slapped Darcy. • 2.
