  4. 1. Religion There are lots of religions in India, but they’re all scattered. There are five main religions in India. They are Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, and Judaism. Different places to pray to God.

  5. How to Draw the Indian Flag Do you know how to draw the Indian Flag? Now will learn how to draw it.

  6. 2.Clothes Indians wear colorful clothes. Women wear saris. A sari is a cloth that women tie around their self a particular way.

  7. Men wear dhothis. A dhothi is a long shirt with a cloth tied around the waist.

  8. 3.Food Indians eat different types of food. Indians eat rice with spicy curries. Hindus do not eat pork and beef. Muslims do not eat pork. Jains do not eat meat. Indians also eat yogurt.

  9. 4. Geography The capital of India is New Delhi. India covers 1,269,338 square miles. 1.1 billion live in India. India is the second populated country.

  10. 5.Celebration Indians celebrate lots of celebrations. One celebration is Diwali. Diwali is celebrated in November or October. When it is Diwali people light oil lamps in front of their house. We also perform a pooja for Goddess Lakshmi. Diwali is celebrated because good won over evil.

  11. Another festival is Holi. Holi is celebrated in March. During Holi people wear old clothes and throw colored powder at each other. Holi is celebrated because a demon king asked his sister, Holika to carry his son, Prahlad into the bonfire . Since, Holika can’t be burned so she carried Prahlad into the fire. Lord Visnu protected Prahlad and Holika died instead.

  12. 6.Language Indians speak different languages . The official language in India is Hindi. Indians also speak other languages such as Thelugu. Indians also speak English.

  13. 7.Fun Facts Here are some facts about India. Some natural resources available in India are rice, wheat, sugarcane, coconuts, and tea. Some natural hazards in India are droughts, flashfloods, and earthquakes. The currency in India is Indian Rupee (INR). One U.S Dollar is equal to about 50 INRs. =

  14. In India some imports are iron, steel, industry, machines, and chemical fertilizers. Some exports are pearls, cotton, gems jewelry , tea, and tobacco. Some special landmarks are the Taj Mahal and the Himalayas. Some famous people in India are Mahatma Gandhi (Father of the Nation) and Sir C.V. Raman (won the Noble Peace Prize for physics in 1930 ).
