América Central • Okay, Miss Bernard, you gave me a mnemonic device for the countries… how do I remember the capitals? • In Central America, it’s pretty easy because most of them have similar names to the country. • Country Capital • Guatemala Guatemala • El Salvador San Salvador (San is short for Santo/Saint) • Panamá Panamá (City) • Nicaragua Managua (they both have “agua” water in them…)

  3. América Central • The 2 that are different are: Country Capital • Honduras Tegucigalpa • Costa Rica San José (2 words like the country)

  4. El Caribe & Europa • For the Caribbean, you have to remember them. • Country Capital • Cuba La Habana (Havana in English) • RepúblicaDominicana Santo Domingo (2 words like the country) • Puerto Rico San Juan (2 words like the country) • The only one in Europe is: • España Madrid
