This event will provide an opportunity for community members to engage with the School District, learn about their schools, and collaborate for a brighter future. Enjoy light snacks during breaks and participate in breakout sessions on various topics, including parental involvement, school governance, and technology in education. PURPOSE • To engage the public in a two-way conversation with the School District. • To provide a vehicle for community members to learn more about their schools. • To work together for an even better school district and partnership.
Session Format • 40 minutes sessions. • Light snacks in the cafeteria during breaks. • Handout will be provided at all sessions. • Please feel free to ask for a handout of a session you did not attend. • All presentations will be located on the District’s webpage in the near future. • At 8:10 pm, please report back to the large cafeteria for a brief summary of the evening and “clicker” exercise.

Info-mercial of Evening Among other informational items, after tonight you will have learned that…… • The Board of Education makes a collaborative effort to develop yearly goals that target The Learning Environment; Evaluation & Accountability; Funding & Finance; Technology; Internal Communication/Employee Relations; and External Communication/Public Relations; and • Overall, 78.7% of Sandwich students met or exceeded state standards in reading, math & science compared to the State’s average of 76.5%; and • Sandwich Elementary, Intermediate, & Middle School ISAT scores continue to increase higher than state averages; and • Sandwich High School ACT scores continue to increase higher than state averages; and • The State of Illinois is paid in full for last school year; however currently owes District #430 $666,665 for this school year (76.79% Education Fund - 23.21% Transportation Fund); and • Sandwich School District has the lowest tax rate in DeKalb County; and • Sandwich spends $2,142 less in operating cost per pupil than the state average – Sandwich $9,395 State $11,537.
