Example Course 1

1. Example Course 1 This example shows the use of a banner. Notice that the buttons (left navigation) matches the banner; a branded look for the course.

2. Example Course 2 This example illustrates the use of folders. Each lesson is organized into folders. Notice that some lessons are one week long and some are two weeks long. In most courses, lessons are organized on a weekly basis. This example also illustrates the use of clear navigation (appropriate labels for buttons, links, and folders).

3. Example Course 3 This example shows how a lesson is structured using the components of a lesson (Read, View, Do). This example also shows how important it is to provide instructions to guide the users on what they need to know and how to they should progress through the content on the page. Notice also that this course has a branded look by using consistent color and banner and effective use of links and labels.

4. Example Course 4 This example also sports a branded look. It illustrates a weekly lesson chunked into four sections (Learning Outcomes/Objectives, Readings, Lecture with Pre/Post Activities, and Assignments. This lesson also includes an audio introduction that provides students that guides them through the lesson. Notice the use of icons to distinguish file types (documents, presentations, MP3 audio). In addition, multimedia items are labeled with duration time.

5. Example Course 5 Here is another example of how to organize course content. In this course, content is organized into Units and Sections within a Unit. For example, Unit 5 consists of Sections 11-14. This example also illustrates the effective use of graphics and links.

6. Example Course 6 Again, here is an example of effective use of graphics. This page layout also illustrates the use of font hierarchy to distinguish headings, sub-headings, and the body of text. Notice that the target to each link is clearly identified and the URL is provided for external links.

7. Example Course 7 Here is another way to layout your lesson. In this example, each lesson has a homepage (depicted). The homepage has links to the Readings, Lectures, and Assignments. These links are created by using icons (book – Read, eye – View, someone typing – Do). Notice that the homepage also provides a lesson introduction, instructions for students, as well as other resources, such as: information about the instructor and important links.
