  2. The Beginning paragraph • In Safe At Home, by Paula Bott, Selina Garcia sees she’s getting pushed around from the boys in baseball, so she moves to softball. Selina experiences fabulous times in softball. Later on, Selina has horrible tragedies going on. As a young girl, Selina struggles with the issue of her moms death, but Selina gains back her confidence and goes back to softball. After all this, Selina learns to never give up and dreams do come true.

  3. I would give this book a letter grade of an A- because the book was very descriptive, exciting to read, and a well written book that caused much emotions to the reader. I would recommend this book to people who girls who play softball and people who have trouble going through tough times because… this book is all about softball, and this book helps you feel better when rough times come. If I could ask the author one question, I’d ask him/her… why he picked softball for the main sport of the book. Rating

  5. For the work splash I picked many words that represent the book. I picked page-turner because my heart would beat every time I would turn the page. Heart-warming because when Selina finds a great person to look up to, it warms my heart so greatly. Love because the book always mentioned how much Selina loved her mother. Touching for when Selina’s dream came true. This book is also a all-nighter because I stayed all night reading this wonderful book. Action-packed because this has many action scenes when you are reading the book. Competitive because Safe at Home is a very competitive book when Selina is playing softball. This book is also exciting by when Selina does spectacular and wins the softball game. This book was also upsetting when Selina's mom dies. I picked pitching because Everyday Selina would practice on her pitching and focus on it. Last, I picked softball because it was the main sport of the book or the sport Selina always concentrated on. She loves to pitch in softball. Selina also tries everyday to think positive. Selina is a well-going girl.Victoria is a sweet, loving girl. She has the softest voice you have ever heard. Victoria is also very athletic and strong, but when you talk or look at her she is so soft and sweet.

  9. Mood • The mood of the novel is upsetting and joyful. • It’s upsetting when Selina’s mom dies, and it’s joyful when Selina’s dream comes true.

  10. Theme • The message from the author to the reader was to never give up, always try your best, loosing people is part of life, be confident, and most importantly always follow your dream.

  12. The Ending paragraph. • In Safe At Home, Selina learns very important things. She learns to never give up no matter what happens, always try your best, be confident, think positive, and loosing people is part of life. From this story, I have indeed learned that life is life and there is nothing you can do about it, try your best, and dreams really do come true. This novel was an excellent book that everyone should read, and I wish won day someone could make a book as amazing as this one.
