Chapter 1 PLACE VALUE
Lesson 1 – PLACE VALUE THROUGH MILLIONS • Standard form: 804,932,008 • *Each group of three digits is called a periodand is separated by a comma • Word form: eight hundred four million, nine hundred thirty-two thousand, eight • *When you get to the comma, say the period • * • Expanded form: 8 x 100,000,000 + 4x 4,000,000 + 9x 100,000 + 3 x 10,000 + 2 x 1,000 + 8 • *Split up the number using place value. For example, an 8 in the hundred millions place equals 8 x 100,000,000.
