  3. Introduction • Leadership requires influencing and motivating. As leaders we must be motivated ourselves in order to motivate our young people. • Leadership is an opportunity to serve. The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership and therefore we must equip ourselves to guide and keep our young people motivated to spread the love of Christ.

  4. Introduction • I have been in leadership for the past 8 years, both in ministry and vocation. • Pathfinder Leadership • Nursing Leadership

  5. Motivation is Defined as … • the process that initiates, guides and maintains goal-oriented behaviors. • Internal and external factors that stimulates desire and energy in people to be continually interested and committed to a role, or to make an effort to attain a goal.

  6. Leadership is Defined as… • the act of guiding or directing a group • a dynamic relational process in which people, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, partner to achieve a common goal. • serving others by leading and leading others through service.

  7. Leaders Can Stay Motivated by always • Praying • Remembering who they are serving • Remembering the difference your ministry is making in the lives of those you are serving • Remembering the eternal rewards

  8. Prayer • Prayer must be a priority in our lives to stay powered up. “ If our personal relationship with Christ is also the engine which drives our ministry and leadership, then time with Christ in prayer must be one of our core ministry activities.”

  9. Remember who you are serving • “Don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you are serving is Christ.” Col. 3:22-24

  10. Remember the difference your ministry is making • “All this is for their benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.” 2Cor. 4: 17-18

  11. Remember your Eternal Rewards • “ Jesus endured the cross by looking forward to joy….. “ You must look past your problems to the reward.” Heb. 12:1 The most powerful motivation is neither internal, nor external- but eternal !

  12. Motivating the youth can be done by • Prayer • Making them feel valued • Letting them know you trust them • Ministering with them • Giving them responsibility • Keeping them active • Building Relationships

  13. Practical Motivating tools through • Raising the bar • Active Ministry • Teen Leadership Program • Preacher Training • Missionary Work / Outreach • Youth Church • AY

  14. Conclusion • Leaders must stay motivated in order to motivate the youth. We are servant leaders and must focus on the reason why we do what we are doing. Young people look to leaders as role models, mentors, and someone whom they can trust and build relationships with.
