  2. Prov 28:13, “He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.”

  3. DoxologyPraise God, from whom all blessings flow;Praise Him, all creatures here below;Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.—Amen.

  4. Prov 3:5,“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”

  5. Proverbs Chapter 12Contrasts between the righteous and wicked in thoughts, speech and actions.

  6. Section 1, vs. 1-14Vs. 1-3, An introductory subunit.

  7. Prov 12:1The one who loves the academic setting for the inculcation of Bible Doctrine love’s the Word of God itself.

  8. Prov 12:2

  9. Prov 12:2The judgment of the Lord towards both the righteous and the wicked.

  10. “A good man” - TOB A believer who plans to apply God’s Word that he has learned and produce Divine good; act well in this life.

  11. “Will obtain” - PUQ, פּוּק“Wobble or obtain.” As “wobble” it is a play on words with “will not be moved” in vs. 3.

  12. In Isa 28:7 it means reversionism. In Jer 10:4 it means false doctrines / worship. The righteous “will not” have or do either.

  13. Yet, he will “obtain” the “favor of the Lord.”RATSON YHVH = blessings from God.

  14. In verse 3 this blessing is a solid physical and spiritual foundation for generations to come.

  15. RATSON is also that which is “pleasing to the Lord” = walking in His righteousness.Prov 8:35; 10:32; 11:1, 20, 27.

  16. When we walk in righteousness we have capacity for God’s blessings in time and eternity.

  17. The Contrast!

  18. The Contrast! The one who “devises evil” brings harm to the greater community and potentially to his offspring.

  19. “He will condemn” - RASHA, רָשַׁע, “To act wickedly or to condemn as guilty.”

  20. It encompasses all of Israel’s covenant-breaking behavior in Neh 9:33 and is summed up as turning away from God in Psa 18:21.

  21. Psa 18:21,“For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.”

  22. It means Divine discipline and loss of blessings and rewards in time and eternity, and potentially for future generations of the reversionistic believer who, “devises evil.”

  23. “Man who devises evil”, ISH MEZIMMAH. MEZIMMAH, מְזִמָּה - mental attitude sinning against a fellow man that can lead to verbal and/or overt sinning.Cf. Prov 14:17; 24:8.

  24. Prov 14:17,“A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a man of evil devices is hated.”

  25. Prov 24:8-9,“One who plans to do evil, men will call a schemer. 9The devising of folly is sin, and the scoffer is an abomination to men.”

  26. God has everything under control and will bring about His judgment against the wicked, both believers and unbelievers.

  27. The Lord is the agent who upholds the moral order with longsuffering and lovingkindness by blessing those who walk in righteousness and disciplining those who walk in sin and evil. Deut 34:6-7; Num 14:18; Psa 86:15; Rom 2:4-11

  28. Prov 12:3

  29. Prov 12:3Contrasts regarding judgment by association.

  30. “Will not be established”The negative LO with KUN, “to prepare or establish” synonymous with “root” SHORESH. It is the setting of a foundation for future generations.

  31. The wicked man will not establish a good foundation for his offspring; they will lose out on blessings by association.

  32. With vs. 1, the wicked reversionist will not pass down a foundation of sound Bible Doctrine from generation to generation.

  33. The Contrast!

  34. The Contrast!“The root of the righteous will not be moved.”

  35. “Will not be moved” - BAL, בַּל, “not or nothing”, MOT, מוֹט, “to totter or falter.”

  36. In the play on words with PUQ of vs. 2, here totter is used for false doctrine / worship in Isa 40:20; 41:7.

  37. In Psa 104:5 it is used with the negative for the earth spinning correctly on its axis. And in Isa 24:19 it is used alone for the wobbling of the earth during the judgments of the Tribulation.

  38. Isa 24:19,“The earth is broken asunder, the earth is split through, the earth is shaken violently.”

  39. In Prov 12:3, the righteous will not falter, i.e., they will have stability, a solid foundation for generations to come.

  40. Prov 10:30,“The righteous will never be shaken, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.”

  41. Psa 62:2, “He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.”

  42. It means “blessing by association” for their offspring; materially, escrow blessings and sound Bible Doctrine passed down from generation to generation.

  43. Yet, the unrighteous is said to have his roots “wrapped about a heap of stones”, prone to dry up and perish, Job 8:17. He is not a blessing to his offspring.

  44. A righteous life, which grows out of having Bible Doctrine in the right lobe of your soul, has a permanent and secure foundation now and for generations to come, Psa 16:8; 17:5; 30:6; 121:3.

  45. Psa 16:8,“I have set the LORD continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

  46. Psa 17:5,“My steps have held fast to Your paths. My feet have not slipped.”

  47. Psa 121:33,“He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.”

  48. Deut 32:28,“For they are a nation lacking in counsel, and there is no understanding in them. 29Would that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would discern their future!”
