  2. LEED Green Building Program LEED = The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design “Aims to improve occupant well-being, environmental performance and economic returns of buildings” A rating system Projects earn one or more points toward certification by meeting or exceeding each credit’s technical requirements. Points add up to a final score Score relates to one of four possible levels of certification

  3. Sustainable Sites – 14 pts. Heat Island Effect Water Efficiency – 5 pts. Energy & Atmosphere – 17 pts. Optimize Energy Performance Up to 10 points Materials & Resources – 13 pts. - Points from Metal Buildings Indoor Environmental Quality – 15 pts. Innovation & Design Process – 5 pts. LEED Accredited Professional– 1 point LEED Project Checklist Platinum:52-69 points Gold: 39-51 points Silver: 33-38 points Certified: 26-32 points

  4. LEED Project Checklist

  5. LEED Project Checklist Sustainable Sites

  6. LEED – Sustainable Sites LEED – SS Credit 7.2: Heat Island Effect - Roof • “Use roofing materials having a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) equal to or greater than the table below for a minimum of 75% of the roof surface.” • Qualifies for 1 Point

  7. LEED & Colors • Low-Sloped Roof (2:12 or less) • Regal White – SRI of 88 • 1 Point • High-Sloped Roof (Greater than 2:12) • All SMARTKOTE colors qualify except Dark Bronze, Evergreen & Regal Blue • 1 Point

  9. LEED Project Checklist Materials & Resources

  10. LEED – Materials Reuse LEED MR Credit 1.1: Materials Reuse: 5% • “Use salvaged, refurbished or reused materials such as the sum of these materials constitutes at least 5%, based on cost, of the total value of materials on the project.” • All the steel in ABC buildings can be recycled in the future • Qualifies for 1 Point

  11. LEED – Materials Reuse LEED MR Credit 1.2: Materials Reuse: 10% • “Use salvaged, refurbished or reused materials for an additional 5% beyond MR Credit 3.1 (10% total, based on cost).” • All the steel in ABC buildings can be recycled in the future • Qualifies for 1 Point

  12. LEED – Recycled Content LEED – MR Credit 4.1: Recycled Content: 10% • “Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10%.” • Over 70% of the steel in ABC buildings is manufactured from recycled steel • Qualifies for 1 Point

  13. LEED – Recycled Content LEED – MR Credit 4.2: Recycled Content: 20% • “Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes an additional 10% beyond MR Credit 4.1 (total of 20%) • Over 70% of the steel in ABC buildings is manufactured from recycled steel • Qualifies for 1 Point

  14. ABC Metal Building Recycled Content

  15. LEED – Regional Materials LEED – MR Credit 5.1: Regional Materials 10% • “Use building materials that have been extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (based on cost) of the total materials value.” • “Mechanical, electrical and plumbing components and specialty items shall not be included in this calculation.” • Potentially qualifies for 1 Point depending upon where the project is located.

  16. LEED – Regional Materials LEED – MR Credit 5.2: Regional Materials 20% • “Use building materials that have been extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 20% (based on cost) of the total materials value.” • “Mechanical, electrical and plumbing components and specialty items shall not be included in this calculation.” • Potentially qualifies for 1 Point depending upon where the project is located.
