This lesson focuses on the key concepts related to imperialism through engaging activities. Students will learn vocabulary that describes the influences of dominant states, the basis of racial prejudices, territory claims, and policies of control beyond borders. Through pair discussions, students will identify and match terms to definitions while exploring the motives behind imperialism from the 1500s to the 1700s. A creative exercise involves summarizing these motives using symbols, enhancing comprehension of political, economic, and social factors driving imperialism.
