Educate, Educate, Educate Call to Action Beyond CPR Members alternate between annual CPR/AED and Basic First Aid Each class covers signs, symptoms and emergency care for heart attack, stroke and choking Morbidity and mortality have been reduced by teaching to call 9-1-1 early for heart attack and stroke symptoms • Training to respond even when the rescuer isn’t sure of the techniques • Calling 9-1-1 early is discussed per the chain of survival, and as a source to spur the rescuer into action • Rescuers are reminded that CPR doesn’t have to be perfect to work (but it helps) • Key staff encouraged to run mock drills to enhance the willingness and ability to respond
