  2. Bias • When a person/advertiser/media entity displays their favoritism of one person, product, mindset, set of values, etc. over its opposition • What are some common biases middle schoolers might have?

  4. Propaganda • This is a technique that is used to convince people of what they should think or do. This is a way of “selling” people on an idea. • This technique uses specific words to make themselves look like the right/righteous/only good choice and make their opponent look like the wrong/evil/obviously bad choice. • This technique might use images to make themselves look good/wholesome while making their opponent look evil/scary.

  6. Stereotyping • This technique takes a quality of an individual or a portion of the population and applies it to everyone in the group. • What common stereotypes do you know?
