TAX REFUND News release October 18, 2006 • Due to a very significant increase in tax collection for the year 2005, Governor Michael Easley has instructed the Secretary of Finance to refund 70% of the tax surplus directly to the tax payers before the Christmas season. • Average refund will be between $100 to $1,000 for a married couple and $80 to $500 for a person filing single. • Click on the red dot below to go to the website to read the detailed instructions on how to apply for this refund.
