  1. TMNT presents:ECE 002 Final Report By: Leonardo(Alex Magnano), Raphael(Thomas Lavelle), Michelangelo (Alia Nasrallah), and Donatello(Casey Murphy)

  2. Contents: • Sensors • Robot Maze • Elevator • Oscilloscope • Circuits • PSPICE • MATLAB

  3. Light sensors Use color scale to read values Range = 0-255 Sonar sensors Read values at different distances Range = 30-2000 Sensor Lab:

  4. Robot Maze Project: • Objective: To build and program a robot with Legos and Interactive C that can navigate its own way through a maze. • The parts that we used in our project included: • handyboard • RJ-11 cable • serial port interface • AC adapter • serial port cable (25 pin to 9 pin) • 2 motors • Legos • 2 Light sensors • Ultrasonic (sonar) sensor

  5. Robot Maze (Continued): • Here is a video of our robot:

  6. Elevator Project: • Objective: To build a simple mock elevator consisting of a two story building and create a program to control it. • The parts that we used in our project included: • handyboard • RJ-11 cable • serial port interface • AC adapter • serial port cable (25 pin to 9 pin) • 1 motor • Legos • Elevator car • Elevator shaft • 2 Light sensors • Tape • Strings • Pirate

  7. Elevator (Continued): • Here is a video of our running elevator:

  8. Oscilloscope Lab: • Oscilloscope: a device that measures electricity and creates visuals of varying voltages or currents • Used to measure a voltage that changes with time and show it in a graphical format • Example from homework: • Setup: • Set the wave function to triangle. • Set the frequency range to 1M. • Turn the frequency scaling dial all of the way counterclockwise. • Turn the amplitude dial all of the way clockwise. • Results: • Peak-to-Peak = 1 V • Amplitude = 0.5 V • Period = 4 μs • Frequency = ¼ Hz

  9. Circuit Lab: • Components • DC voltage source, any number of resistors or diodes, a breadboard, and wiring. • Series vs. Parallel • Equations • Voltage (V), Current (I), Resistance (R) • Ohm’s Law: V=IR

  10. Circuit Lab Results: • Find I1 and I2, and I • Voltage = 3V • I1=3V/1kΩ=3mA • I2=3V/1kΩ=3mA • I=6mA

  11. PSPICE: • Purpose: Get familiar with this software, and verify the hand-solved circuit problems. • Difficulties: - Forgetting to include the ground – Reversing the direction of the Diode – Placing the Probes in the wrong place. • Problem#1: Series Circuit • Problem#2: Parallel Circuit • Problem#3: Diode Circuit

  12. MATLAB: • Asked to integrate functions using Matlab • Code with two different methods: • Composite Trapezoid Rule • Matlab Vectorized operation • Methods then compared in speed of operation • Vectorized took approx. 0.125 seconds quicker

  13. Conclusion: • We worked really well together, and our teamwork and dedication helped us get through all the projects successfully and helped us overcome any problems that we might have had. • We love Zhao!! <3 • Yay for ECE 002!!  • Cowabunga dudes!
