Comprehensive Testing Report on Battery Shipment Safety and Regulatory Compliance

The testing is complete, and the final report is currently in progress. Additional testing at RSPA’s discretion is pending review of the final report. Recent ICAO regulations restrict the shipment of batteries on transport aircraft. Conclusions indicate that the temperatures detected in a suppressed smoldering cargo fire are adequate to ignite a primary lithium battery. Additionally, the pressure rise resulting from battery ignition can compromise the integrity of a cargo compartment, highlighting safety concerns associated with transporting lithium batteries.
