CDRP Task Groups • Antisocial behaviour & Criminal damage, • Violent crime. • Domestic Abuse • Community empowerment (Stronger Theme)
Anti-social Behaviour and Criminal Damage • Providing new and supporting existing diversionary activities for young people throughout Carlisle and Eden through youth clubs and targeted events, such as the Skate Park event. • Involvement in crack house closures where appropriate to reduce ASB caused by drug misuse. • Tackling the anti-social use of motor vehicles and mini ‘motos’ through operation MINX (Carlisle). • Working with partners to provide security measures or improvements to areas suffering ASB and criminal damage effecting residents. • Delivering the Young Fire-Fighters project to reduce ASB and Arson. • Working with the Probation Service to continue delivery of the graffiti removal service. • Support communities to actively participate in community safety projects.
Violent Crime Task Group • Deliver multi-agency visits to ensure the night time economy in both Carlisle and Eden is a safe environment, this also includes the use of safer clubbing assessments. • Deliver drug dog operations in Carlisle and Eden to reduce drug misuse in the night time economy. • Deliver test purchasing operations to reduce the amount of underage sales • Provide personal safety and conflict training for licensees ad staff. There is also a plan to extend this to other organisations. • Deliver taxi rank marshal’s in Carlisle and Eden on key dates to reduce disorder and violent crime. • Deliver the Best bar None scheme throughout Carlisle and Eden. • The purchase and use of drug testing kits within licensed premises. • The Group is also working with the PCT to develop information sharing agreements in order to use PCT information to deliver targeted activity • Purchase and deploy body worn surveillance to prevent and detect violent crime.
Domestic Abuse Task Group • Provide support to the Independent Domestic Violence Advisor project covering Carlisle and Eden. • Provide support for the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences • Provide, where appropriate and necessary, security measures for victims of domestic abuse. • Develop and Deliver campaigns to increase reporting and reduce repeat cases of domestic abuse. • Support for the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC)
Future Challenges • The policing Pledge & Challenge to the Police and Local Authorities – What does this mean for the CDRP. • Funding – Area Based Grant OR Procurement based approach? • Cohesion in the CDRP – It is working – It can work better. • Ensuring what we do is evidenced – needed by our communities and has the desired effect.
