  1. Bridal Dress Project Assigned by Mrs. FirdausChoudary - HOD Mrs. Tahmina Aziz - Instructor Mrs. Zakia Sharif – Jr. Instructor Govt. Polytechnic Institute for Women, Lytton Road, Lahore

  2. Making of Bridal Dress Group Leader: Shumaila Khan Group Participants: Hina Saleem Asma Akbar Seema Khalid Rimza Shoaib DDM – 12 Govt. Polytechnic Institute for Women, Lytton Road Lahore

  3. Plan of Action We were asked by our teachers to assume the role of fashion designer that can utilize cheap fabric to prepare a trendy bridal dress. First of all we went to search for good quality low-priced fabric and thread with beads, dabka, nakshi and ribbons Then we went to look for trendy bridal dresses in the market and draw our own bridal dress sketch with unique design. Under the supervision of our teachers we made a trendy dress which would be low-priced and affordable to poor man

  4. Steps of Making • Demonstration on Board • Pattern Making • Cutting of Pattern • Selection of Fabric • Cutting of Fabric • Embroidery and other embellishments on fabric • Stitching of Fabric • Finishing • Presentation

  5. Problem Statement Due to high inflation, dresses are very expensive and out of the reach of common man As a student we faced difficulty in following aspects: Survey of market in a local bus Visiting the designer shops and remembering the trendy designs The unstitch quality fabric was difficult to find

  6. Research Finding There is no material available in the standard text books about the quality of fabric to be used The market is very competitive and very few people are able to buy bridal dresses Extra stuff including thread, beads, dabka, nakshi and ribbons were difficult to find in the congested markets of Anarkali, Rang Mahal, Lohari and Ichra Bazar The making of bridal dress is a very time consuming process

  7. Different Styles

  8. Recommendations Teachers should guide about the type of fabric to be used We should be provided a transport in order to save time and put more effort in the making of bridal dress Text books should be updated We should be guided about the markets and from where to buy all the stuff required in the making of a good bridal dress Number of students in a group should be increased to 7 in order to get a dress completed in time

  9. Conclusion Inflation and sky rocketing prices of daily life commodities is a dilemma of this age and it becomes difficult for a common person to meet the demands, especially working women find it difficult to buy trendy dresses in less resources. This is not very difficult to design a dandy dress in limited resources. If we use our creativity and skill of embroidery, cutting and sewing, we can provide a solution for low priced dandy dress.
