  1. The Human Body Systems What is Your Body Like and How do the Systems Work Together

  2. Living systems have the following level of organization: CELLS TISSUES ORGANS ORGAN SYSTEMS Organism

  3. Our body works because of the interactions that happen between organs and organ systems. For example: The heart helps to regulate blood flow throughout the body. The blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the cells and carries carbon dioxide and waste away from the cells. What systems or Organs Do you think are Involved here?

  4. The human body has a set of systems which regulate the internal environment and strives to give our cells the necessary conditions they need to function. These systems are made up of organs; each organ system functions in the human body and works in cooperation with other systems to benefit the entire organism.

  5. Body systems work together in maintaining a constant internal environment. When this balance is disrupted, the body systems may not function properly, and human health can suffer. You start to feel bad! This balance is called HOMEOSTASIS.

  6. What would happen if one system of the human body were to fail or stop working?

  7. Watch this video and learn more http://www.brainpop.com/science/diversityoflife/humanbody

  8. The skeleton system provides the support for movement and protection of internal organs. The muscular system creates the force that enables the body to move and carry out different functions related to movement.

  9. Human Body Systems continued The reproductive system enables the organism to make more of its kind by a process known as meiosis. The immune system protects cells from microscopic invaders, such as bacteria, protist, and viruses.

  10. Human Body Systems continued The nervous system controls body processes by using electrical impulses via a network of nerves. Your brain is the control center for your body. The endocrine system uses chemical messages called hormones, which are released into the blood and regulate many bodily processes.

  11. The endocrine and nervous systems are two control systems that keep the body in homeostasis. Remember: Body systems work together in maintaining a constant internal environment.

  12. Human Body Systems continued The primary function of the respiratory system is to control the oxygen entering and the carbon dioxide leaving our body. We do this by breathing. The Circulatory system heart is responsible for moving the body's blood supply about 1,000 times each day. This is about 5000 quarts of blood each day.

  13. Human Body Systems continued The digestive system breaks down your food so all your cells can receive nourishment. It also gets rid of solid wastes that your body does not use.

  14. Human Body Systems continued The urinary system is also called the excretory system, which produces, stores, and eliminates (gets rid of) urine. The kidney’s primary function is to filter water soluble waste products from your blood

  15. Which 2 body systems work together to get rid of waste products? How would you feel if your body could not get rid of its wastes?

  16. Explain why Homeostasis is important to our bodies!
