  1. Caythorpe CourtResidential Trip 9th-11th October 2019 https://www.pgl.co.uk/en-gb/adventure-holidays/centres/caythorpe-court Mrs Price, Mr O’Hara, Miss Watson, Mrs Pudsey, Mrs Moffatt, Mrs Parkes, Miss Gardiner

  2. Where? • Based in Lincolnshire, Caythorpe has 65 acres of grounds which include a fantastic lake especially for watersports and also a completely refurbished sports hall. There is a wide range of activity areas in the grounds of the main house including one of the best high ropes courses at PGL.

  3. PGL • Back in 1957, Peter Gordon Lawrence bought a folding canvas canoe and set off down the Danube. He loved this experience so much he wanted to share it. Returning home, he began leading groups of young adults on canoe camping trips down the River Wye – and PGL was born! Sadly Peter died in 2004 but his original passions still live on today, in a growing and thriving organisation and the generations of children who have benefitted from what he created. • To maintain the standards of excellence for which we are known we rigorously select only the very best of the thousands of candidates who apply every year. We assess them according to their previous work with children, entertainment skills, personality and activity qualifications or experience. Naturally all staff members are DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service, formerly CRB) checked. Additionally, all new appointments are on probation for their first two to four weeks, and continually assessed to ensure they meet our high standards. • Trained Instructors take responsibility during activity sessions. We have an excellent safety record of which we are very proud, and we insist our Instructors enforce the highest possible safety standards. • Where a formal qualification exists, Instructors must hold it and Trainee Instructors must study for it. Where no recognised qualifications exist, we carry out verified in-house training and assessments.

  4. What are we doing? • Buggy building • Raft building • Zip wire • Kayaking • Archery And in the evening • Campfire • Passport To The World

  5. A Typical Day

  6. Accommodation • Children will be sharing with groups of 3, 4 or 6. • The rooms all have an en-suite bathroom to share. • The children will be put into groups- we will ask them to choose 3 children (not hierarchical) and are guaranteed to be with one friend. • Lights out and asleep by 10!

  7. Kit List

  8. There is no requirement for you to buy new kit- please send old clothes as they will get dirty! • Please provide aplastic carrier bag for wet clothes. Please do not send a black bin bag as this can be easily mistaken for a rubbish bag and disposed of! Children can then keep all their own dirty washing together. • Please provide a roll on deodorant, if needed, rather than a spray as this will set off the fire alarms. • Please do not send hairdryers or hair straighteners.

  9. Pocket Money- there is a shop on site which we will visit on the last day (Friday). There is a selection of souvenirs the children can buy. £5 maximum should be put in a sealed envelope or purse/wallet, which is named, and given in to Mrs Moffatt and Mrs Pudsey, who will be in the library as luggage is dropped off, on Wednesday morning (9th October) before we leave. • Medical- Children who require medication should also give their medication, along with clear written instructions, in a sealed bag , which is clearly named, to Mrs Moffatt and Mrs Pudsey, who will be in the library as luggage is dropped off, on Wednesday morning (9th October). In the case of children who need an inhaler, they should carry it with them. A spare inhaler will be taken from school. • Travel Sickness pills- These should be taken before the journey if necessary. Medication for the return journey should be handed to the class teacher, clearly named and with details of dosage, on Wednesday morning (9th October)

  10. We will be departing at 10 o’clock on Wednesday 9th October and leaving the centre at 2 pm on Friday 11th October to arrive back at school for 3.30pm (approximately) • Children will need a packed lunch in a disposable bag, which will be eaten at Caythorpe. The first meal we are booked for is an evening meal. • Strictly no sweets, but the children may take one small packet of mints/pastilles for the journey. • Strictly no electronics, no mobile phones, no ipads, no cameras, no handheld game consoles. Checks will be done and they will be confiscated if found. • Small back pack – so children can carry their own water bottle and waterproof.
