  6. 1950s Cars -Henry Ford created the first Model T affordable car. - People who lived in the suburbs and worked in the city could get to work fast. -Cars had radios which helped people listen to politics/music. -Could travel anywhere and gas was very cheap. -Millions of people soon bought the car so the economy boomed.- Made it more convenient to go to churches, temples, shops, ect. -By 1959, 80% of all families owned cars.

  8. Television(T.V.) Get entertainment without going anywhere. -Advertisements inform people about new products. Signals can reach almost everywhere. Can see places around the world.(Rural kids can see the city) Changes people’s opinions on things. Tvsencouraged people to buy and spend money.

  10. 1950s Science -NASA set up in 1958 (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) - Eisenhower was the founder if NASA. NASA is a space program. -Russia launched Sputnik in 1957. -The U.S had to get ahead of the Russians in the Space Race -US launches Explorer I in 1958. -It was the First U.S satellite. -US saw the importance in science so they invested money in school to get smart, young scientists for the future

Math • The government started funding math more because they knew they needed smarter people for the future. • With new advances in technology math was needed. • 1958: the government funded curriculum development especially in mathematics. • The critical path method (CPM) or critical path analysis, is a mathematically based algorithm for scheduling a set of project activities. It is an important tool for managing projects.

  14. -The United States had to be better than Russia, making them create more advanced technology. -The war was over and everyone had money to spend. Companies had competitors and companies tried to expand and improve their products. -1958: The government funded curriculum development especially in science. -Companies starting producing more after the war when everyone was home. Increase in Technology Dwight Eisenhower

  15. Facts 1955: The first televised Presidential press conference brings candidates into living rooms. In1951, color television was introduced.
