  3. 前言 • 脊髓動物的顳顎關節是複合體。 • 由Meckel’s氏軟骨所發育。 • 哺乳類的顳顎關節很特異。

  4. 關節分類(Classification of joints) • 纖維性關節(fibrous joints) 　骨頭之間由纖維組織連接，如骨間縫(suture);齒槽骨與牙齒的連接。

  5. 軟骨性關節(cartilaginous joints) • 肋骨軟骨關節(costochondral junction) • 恥骨縫合(pubic symphysis)

  6. 滑液關節(synovial joints) • 骨頭端的關節由透明軟骨覆蓋，外部包圍著關節囊(capsule)，如TMJ。

  7. 顳顎關節的運動(movements at the joint) • 下降(depressed)。 • 提升(elevated)。 • 側向校動(lateral movement)。 • 前突(protraction)。 • 後縮(retraction)。 • 轉軸運動(hinge movement)。

  8. 各種關節運動的肌肉 • 下降（開口）→外翼肌。 • 提升（開口）→顳肌、咬肌、內翼肌。 • 前突→外翼肌、內翼肌。 • 側方運動→外翼肌、內翼肌、交替運動。

  9. 人類與貓科、犬科動物TMJ比較 • 貓、犬TMJ無法左右移動吃肉，頭要側一邊。 • 臼齒無咀嚼功能。 • 大貓咬合力900磅/吋2 　人類咬合力500磅/吋2 • 強大咬合力，必須犠牲腦容量。
