Communications • Effective and open information sharing • Lessons learned from pilots and projects • Improvements to current standards • New standards to meet requirements • External Communications • PR to educate others in the industry • Internal Communications • Members delivering the deployment message • Visibility of success attracts new members

The Regions • POSC will encourage participation and coordinate communications between users of open standards through the establishment of eight global regions • North America (United States, Canada and Mexico) • South America (Central and South America) • Western Europe (European Union and Scandinavia) • Eastern Europe (Russia, Kazakhstan and non-EU states) • Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain) • Africa (Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, South Africa) • Asia South (India, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand) • Asia Pacific (China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Philippines)

  5. The Regions • The mission… • Establish a regional presence for standards • Improve communications among users • Provide localization to the message • Identify new standards requirements • Drive adoption and deep deployment • Facilitate an active global community

The Regions • The Region Lead will: • Be a Sustaining, Contributing or Associated member • Be located within the boundaries of the Region • Be conversant in localization techniques • Be willing to devote one day/month on community activities • Provide a communications conduit to the Houston office • Set up one major Region meeting per year including: • Engaging a sponsor, a venue and speakers • Identifying and inviting potential attendees • Obtaining translations of invitations, agendas, documents

Products, Services & EquipmentClassification SIG • Our goals… • To accurately and consistently describe products, simple services and equipment within the upstream oil and gas industry • To facilitate a collaborative project using the ECCMA Open Technical Dictionary • To bridge an intersection point between technical and business standards

Products, Services & EquipmentClassification SIG • To ensure that the Oil and Gas Industry uses… • Standard public domain terms, definitions and concept identifiers • A full range of maintenance, repair and operations products, simple services and equipment templates • Open classification standards for life cycle engineering, electronic procurement and interoperability

Products, Services & EquipmentClassification SIG • The Electronic Commerce Code Management Association (ECCMA) • Formed in April 1999, ECCMA brings together thousands of experts from around the world to build and maintain global, open standard dictionaries used to unambiguously label information.

Products, Services & EquipmentClassification SIG • ECCMA looks to industry verticals to accept responsibility for building and maintaining the eOTD Identification Guides • An Upstream Oil & Gas Content Standardization Council has been requested from ECCMA • This is a collaborative effort with others in the industry
