  3. Answering Question 1 : Casey and Andy Question 1: Annual meeting at the Moscone center , and needs networking to communicate with each other . What would you recommend for their networking?

  6. Network Solutions • Wireless networking offers a clean and modern environment for all of your networking needs. • Routing and switching for efficient and uncongested network traffic. • Fiber optic cabling for higher speeds and greater throughput.

  7. Advantages of Wireless Networking • Efficient and convenient. • Allows ease of access. Bring in your laptop or tablet and get connected with a few small steps. • Minimize hardware requirements for easy maintenance and reduced cost. • Information can be stored and shared from a central server and enhanced with access to the world wide web.

  8. Wireless Brings Flexibility • Allows users to bring in their own laptops to connect. • Also works with tablets and smartphones, allowing for more portable ways to connect. • Convention operators can install wired workstations to broaden access and provide backup for unexpected contingencies.

  12. Satellite • Only one location • Needs clear line of sight • Expensive • Slow • Highly unnecessary and inefficient.

  13. Cable Modem + Copper Twisted Pair • Put this together because one needs the other. • Inefficient • Slow • Not very secure

  14. Wireless • Not very secure • Short range • Needs to be able to reach throughout the building • Repeaters/bridges add to the security risk

  15. Fiber Optics • Secure • New building = Probably installed already • Fast • Low power • Effective • Most effective networking option based on the needs of this law firm

  16. Why Fiber Optics? • Less expensive than copper twisted pair • Cables are thinner than copper twisted pair • Less signal degradation • Less interference • Lower power consumption • Degrades slower • Non flammable • Lightweight • Durable • Flexible

Security • Harder to tap into compared to other networking options • “Unlike metallic-based systems, the dielectric nature of fiber optic cables makes it impossible to remotely detect the signal being transmitted within the cable. The only way to do so is by actually accessing the fiber optic itself.”

  20. Answering Question 3 : Kyle and Damien Question 3 : A small criminal law firm with three people in an old Victorian building in the mission district. They need to be careful with the security of their data. What would you recommend for their networking? Do they need networking?

  27. Answering Question 4 : Simon and Marcos Question 4 : Venture Capital provide money for startup and other companies. They have three different location San Francisco, London and Rome. What would you recommend for their networking?

  28. We will being using satellite connection and server based with central server. Each location will have its own server while San Francisco server will be the central server. The reason for satellite connection is because each office is at different location. In case of an emergency where satellite is not able to be used the company will be using cable wire for their connections.
