  2. What is Supported Employment? • A free and confidential service for employers. • Matches Jobseekers with a Disability to appropriate employment opportunities. • Support of a trained Job Coach, who can advise you on all aspects of employing a person with a disability.

The Benefits of Supported Employment • Eliminate your recruitment costs. • Free on the job training to help the employee settle into the new position. • Access to appropriate grants and incentives. • You will gain a highly committed, loyal and skilled employee. • Support is always only a phone call away!

  4. What do Employers say? • What I'd say to other employers is, give it a go, this is a system that works, the support is there if required and you’ll have no issues. • The level of support definitely varies per employee, what I have found is that as time goes by there is less support needed, they're more independent, they're doing the jobs that they're paid to do the same as any other member of staff.   5. The Recruitment Process • Your local Supported Employment service will go through their list of jobseekers and find a match to the service that you are looking for. • If necessary, a shortlist of suitable candidates will be made and interviews arranged. • The job coach is on hand to support the job seeker into the place of employment and deliver any training that is needed on-site, until the employee is confident to do that job on their own.

  6. Workplace Equipment Adaptation Grant • The Workplace Equipment Adaptation Grant will cover the costs if your place of work needs to make reasonable accommodations. • A maximum grant of €6348.70 is available towards the cost of adaptations to premises or equipment.

  7. Wage Subsidy Scheme The Wage Subsidy Scheme will cover any shortfall in productivity, if a jobseekers disability makes it more difficult to attain full productivity.

  8. Wage Subsidy Scheme • Productivity shortfall in excess of 20% for a disabled person, in comparison to a non disabled peer. • An employee must work a minimum of 21 hours per week up to a maximum of 39 hours per week. • The rate of subsidy is €5.30 per hour and is based on the number of hours worked, giving a total annual subsidy available of €10,748 per annum based on 39 hour week.

  9. IASE - Job Shadow Initiative • Almost 500 Public and Private sector companies throughout Ireland take part each year. • Allow a jobseeker with a disability to Shadow you, or a member of your team, in your workplace for a day. • Takes place in April each year • Sign up at www.iase.ie
