  2. Supported employment association To promote employment of the disabled people, mostly mentally disabled people, in the open labour market

  3. Education Supported employment association arranges education for different customer groups and it also works as a regional developer of supported employment

  4. Practicing independent life For students with special needs it is very important to start practicing independent life when they are students. Their families also need guidance, support and experience when guiding disabled people in their independent life.

  5. The support of the social network has remarkable effect on individual having strength and staying in the job in the open labour market. The aim is to have an equal employer who uses normal services.

  6. Moon-activity Activity, which is planned individually and supports both independence and having strength enough to work. When students are 12 years old (in Kauhava), they can join Moon activity. Teachers evaluation is important. The support of the parents is also needed.

  22. During the practical training students with special needs learn the work tasks and get to know working place with the support of the job assistant.

  23. Job assistant Supported employment means working in the normal job. Job assistant is helping both the employer and the working place.

  24. Job assistant • Job assistant is a person who works in the field. His/her job is to support 2-6 students with special needs in their work. Job assistant also supports free time activities and independence.

  31. An example from job assistants education:Test your attitude • Do you accept people with disability? • Would you greet a neighbour, who is a pwd? • Would you open the door when needed? • Would you answer the question by a pwd?

  32. Would you help a blind person to choose the right route? • Would you pick up a person who has fell? • Would you pour coffee to the pwd’s cup also?

  33. Do you believe that people with disabilities are nice people also? • Would you advice a colleague when he/she asks you to? • Would you pay salary to a pwd for well performed job?

  34. If you answered yes to the most questions, you are very positive and open towards people with disabilities. You are helpful and progressive person! Great! The world needs people just like you. You are a supporter of equality and love for one’s neighbour above all. So, what could stop you to be a colleague of a pwd? Or what could stop you to hire a pwd to work at your company?
