In 2008, the MSU GK-12 Project led an expedition to Beijing and Xi'an aimed at fostering connections between university researchers and public schools. The team included faculty, school administrators, and middle school teachers, along with graduate fellows. Highlights included engaging in physics demonstrations, visiting the ancient Beijing Observatory, and exploring cultural landmarks like the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors.
