  3. What after you graduate ? • Is there a similar forum ? • Yes ! In the form of IEEE Graduates Of the Last Decade (IEEE GOLD)

  4. IEEE GOLD • Offers a similar forum for young engineers in the initial years of their career. • A platform to share their views, ideas, experience and concerns • Provides an opportunity to network with peers and mentors

IEEE GOLD –How to be a GOLD member ? • An IEEE member whose year of graduation falls in the last decade is a GOLD member. • The GOLD chapter can be formed as an affinity group of a section • Formation of the Chapter and organising activities for the chapter gives more visibility to the GOLD members and more financial support for the parent entity.

  6. IEEE GOLD – A Brief History • Formed to address the following Issues Identified • Bridge Transition from Student Member to Member • To meet the professional needs of Recent Graduate Affinity Group • Raise comfort level and involvement of Young Professionals at the local level

IEEE GOLD – How do we make the start ? • As Affinity Groups • As a local unit of an IEEE entity or standing committee established by petition to the parent entity to fulfill the purposes of the IEEE • Require Signatures of at least six (6) IEEE Members, other than Students, who are Members of the Section(s) involved • Forms are available on the web http://www. ieee.org/organizations/ rab/scs/forms_petitions/ afform. html

  8. IEEE GOLD – Structures in Place • Quick Start Incentive Funding Program • Up to $500 available for initiating a GOLD program ($200 Unmatched + $300 Matched) on showing plan of expenditure • Forms are available on the web http:// www. ieee. org/organizations/rab/gold/programs. html

IEEE GOLD – Identification and Recruitment • SAMIEEE (Section/Society Access to Membership Information) • Use SAMIEEE to identify GOLD Members of the Section after applying filters on GOLD Members • Create GOLD mailing / e-mail lists • Student Branch Members • Recruit Graduating Student Branch Members for GOLD
