  2. Shooting Technique • Shooting a basketball can be easily broken down into simple steps using the BEEF principle. Click on each of the boxes below to find out more about each step! Balance Eyes Elbow Follow-through

  3. Finished Product • To see what the finished product looks like click the image below!

  4. Balance • The first step to becoming a successful basketball shooter is ensuring that you have good balance. Both feet should be firmly placed on the ground and evenly spread out. Take note of the person in the picture below. Click to Return to the Previous Slide

  5. Eyes • The first ‘E’ is for eyes. You should pick a target on the basketball rim or net and continue to look at that point throughout the entire shot. It is important that you do not take your eyes off this target to watch the ball as you shoot. Click to Return to the Previous Slide

  6. Elbow • The second ‘E’ is for elbow. You should make sure that your elbow is at a 90o angle while you are shooting. The hand should be tilted backwards so that when you are looking at your wrist you can see wrinkles Click to Return to the Previous Slide

  7. Follow Through • The final step of the BEEF principle is the follow through. This is an extremely important step and is the one that a lot of people forget to perform. You should push the ball upwards towards your target and finish in a way that mimics putting your hand into a cookie jar on a shelf above your head.
