  2. About.. Shane Meadows was born on the 26th of December 1972 He is an English film director, screen writer and has occasionally been behind the camera. He comes from Uttoxeter, Staffodshire, England. Much of the content of his films are semi -autobiographical and based on his experiences in Uttoxeter. Meadows moved to Nottingham when he was 20. He is widely regarded as a big fan of Notts County Football Club, with several references included in his films by way of imagery and background shots. Meadows enrolled on a Performing Arts course at Burton College. He has a relaxed directing style, encouraging the actors to ad lib in order to create a better sense of reality.

(1994) Shane Meadows created 30 short films with his friends when living in Sneinten, Nottingham. One of his feature-length films which he has created “Twenty Four Seven” has won several awards from various film festivals. His sixth film “Dead Man’s Shoes”, was nominated for a BAFTA for Best British film. He then went on to winning the British Independent Film awards with one of his most well-known films “This is England”. He was presented this award by Sylvester Stylone, and Meadows used this occasion to announce the news that he was soon to be a father. The most intriguing and random film he has made was only 39 seconds long and consisted of a man and a woman violently bumping into each other on a stairwell, the film was called “The Stairwell”.

Shane has directed a hard-hitting advertisement for a new Home Office campaign which aims to tackle the issue of domestic violence in teenage relationships.The £2m TV, radio, internet and poster campaign is part of a government strategy announced last year to reduce violence against women and girls.
