  2. IARD 602 (Focus: agriculture and rural development) (course was initiated in 1968) IARD 602-Mexico offers a learning laboratory and multicultural exploration of • agricultural and environmental issues and • factors affecting rural livelihoods, net economic returns and competitiveness.

Field trip expenses and arrangements Covered expenses: • Transportation (5 vans) • Bottled water • Lodging • Student room arrangements: Cornell and UADY women; Cornell, UADY and UV men. • Meals • Desayuno and comida (large meal in early/mid-afternoon) • Farewell dinner in Veracruz (January 17) • Excursions • Tours by boat and Palenque ruins • Your out-of-pocket expenses… • Evening meals, souvenirs, and incidentals

Luggage, clothing and contacts • Pack light:one small bag (carry on) plus backpack • Clothing for one week; 2nd pair of shoes • Personal items including needed medication • Hat, sunscreen, layers for elevation (rain) • Keep passport, tourist card and other papers in a safe place. • Launder clothes en route or in Veracruz • Emergency contacts at hotels (see Web site)
