  11. The Other Nations in the Land • When the king of Assyria heard of the lions, he sent a priest to show them how to worship God • The priest came to Bethel, but the people continued to serve idols • They worshipped God and their idols • 2 Kin 17:34 sums this up

The Reason for the Captivity • Israel was taken captive because they sinned against Jehovah • They followed after other gods, the gods of the people of the land • They committed secret sin • They set up high places to worship idols • They ignored the warnings of the prophets • They offered human sacrifices • They rejected the covenant that God made with them
