    1. Siemens High Performance servo motors consist of two different motor principles, the permanent magnet synchronous motors (1FK6, 1FT6) and the asynchronous squirrel cage induction motors (1PH4, 1PH7 and 1PL6). The permanent magnet synchronous motors are located only in the green triangle representing the MASTERDRIVE MC, I.e. that these motors can only be driven with the MC drive. The line of induction motors stretches from the green to the blue triangle which represents the MASTERDRIVE VC, I.e. that these motors can be driven either by the MC or VC drive. All Siemens High Performance motors will have UL component listing . The water-cooled induction motor 1PH4 has a degree of protection of IP65 it is most favorable to use where extreme ambient conditions such as temperature, dust, dirt or aggressive atmosphere prevent air cooling or in processes where the environment must not be thermally polluted. The 1PH7 is stator cooled and has IP55 as degree of protection which is equivalent to “Totally enclosed Non or blower ventilated” (TEBV). The internally ventilated (rotor and stator cooled) 1PL6 has a degree of protection of IP23, equivalent to a DC motor Drip proof fully guarded (DPFG).Siemens High Performance servo motors consist of two different motor principles, the permanent magnet synchronous motors (1FK6, 1FT6) and the asynchronous squirrel cage induction motors (1PH4, 1PH7 and 1PL6). 2. The 1FK6 is Siemen’s low cost permanent magnet servomotor with a good performance but limited speed (3000 and 6000) and horse power range (up to 7HP). The motor design and production process are optimized to offer a cost effective motor solution for most of the common servo applications. One of the main characteristics compared to the 1FT6 premium servo motor is the frameless design. Power and encoder connections are done by connectors which allows easy, fast and fail safe motor connections. 3. The Premium 1FT6 permanent magnet servo motor is designed to cover most of the high demanding servo motor applications. The motor has a wide horsepower range (up to 46 HP) and several rated speeds (1500, 2000, 3000, 4500 and 6000 rpm). Some of the main characteristics are: Very good overload capability depending on the shaft height up to 4 times rated torque. Smooth running (torque ripple smaller than 1%). Especially important for coating applications High level of protection up to IP67 (motor can be washed down) High standstill torque Power and encoder connections are done by connectors which allows easy, fast and fail safe motor connections. The Premium 1FT6 permanent magnet servo motor is designed to cover most of the high demanding servo motor applications. 4. The 1PH7 induction motors were especially designed to being able to substitute for DC motors where size, power, speed and torque range matter. Hence these motors have a very compact design (frameless build), a high power density, are blower ventilated, have a low rotor inertia and a very high maximum mechanical speed with a high field weakening/constant power range. The motors are available in rated speeds from 400, 1150, 1750, 2300 and 2900 with MASTERDRIVE MC at 3ph 480V. All motors come equipped with a KTY 84 temperature sensor (PTC sensor) which allows to feedback the temperature information back into the drive to obtain a more accurate motor control. The 1PH7 in shaft height 100, 132 and 160 mm have an integrated terminal box which results in an especially compact design. Due to the bigger cable diameters for increased current rating for bigger rated motors this design is not possible for shaft heights 180 and 225. As the picture shows the terminal box is located on top of the motor. The 1PH7 induction motors were especially designed to being able to substitute for DC motors where size, power, speed and torque range matter. 5. The 1PL6 is almost identical to the 1PH7 in shaft height 180 and 225. The only is a modified DR bearing shield with air slots in it and a stronger blower motor. This is necessary due to the fact that the motor is not only stator but also internally (rotor) cooled. The improved cooling allows to raise the motor power compared with the 1PH7 stator cooled model of almost 50%. The degree of protection for this cooling method is IP23 (DPFG). The available rated speeds are the same as for the stator cooled 1PH7 model. Since the rotor inertia from the stator cooled to the internally ventilated 1PH7 model remains unchanged but the power increased by almost 50% the result is an even better high dynamic response than the one offered by the 1PH7 in IP55.The 1PL6 is almost identical to the 1PH7 in shaft height 180 and 225. 6. 1PH4 type of construction is IM B35 (flange / foot mounting). The water cooling gives this motor certain advantages over the air blower cooled versions of the Siemens High Performance Induction motors. This motor is preferable to be used wherever extreme ambient conditions such as high temperature dust, dirt or aggressive atmosphere prevent air cooling. It fits also processes where the environment must not be thermally polluted, for instance high precession applications where thermal expansion must be avoided all the time.
