  2. How did we identify the children? The children were identified through primarily teacher observation and by observing pupil’s performance during the school’s annual ‘Art Week” where pupils are given the opportunity to carry out a range of activities using several techniques and different mediums/media.

  3. The children that took part in this project were chosen because their performances in lessons and during Art Week were deemed as being of a high standard. They are on the school’s Able, Gifted and Talented register for Art.

  4. The pottery workshop provided high quality provision for our young learners.

  5. Pupil voice It was great to work with real artists. It really inspired me. I loved the feel of the clay against my hands. It was great to make something so beautiful out of a slab of clay.

  6. I now know loads of technical terms that I didn’t know before! I really liked creating the patterns. We don’t have a kiln at school so we would never have been able to have this opportunity if we hadn’t been picked to do the workshops!

  7. I seriously can’t believe how amazing the pots look now that they are finished. I’m so proud. My mum loves it too!

  8. A fantastic opportunity! Both the staff and pupils are so pleased with the results and we would like to thank Mandy Sterling, Pam Russell, Penny Ibbotson and last but not least, PDFAS for giving us the opportunity to let our talented young artists shine. THANK YOU!
