Not for school but for life Molloy Named Scholarships Criteria and Application Process The following is designed to help you determine if you meet the general guidelines: • Demonstrate financial need • Average of B (3.0) or higher in the core subjects (ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies) in 6th, 7th and 8th grade • Immediate relative (child or grandchild preferred) of a current, retired or deceased NYC Firefighter How to apply: If you meet the requirements found in the above general guidelines, here are the following steps to apply: • Take the TACHS or CHSEE exam and list Molloy (Code:012) as your first choice • Confidential recommendation form from two of the following: • Current Teacher • Pastor and/or clergy in residence of parish • Principal and/or administrator • Guidance Counselor *The recommender should know the student well and is familiar with the student’s family situation. • Prepare a one page typewritten essay outlining why you qualify for a Molloy Named Scholarship including: • Why you wish to attend Molloy. • Why you are a strong candidate for a need based Named Scholarship(s). • Highlight your personal qualities, experiences and strengths. DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 1, 2017 Please submit online: your application and essay to www.molloyhs.org/NamedScholarships/ Recommenders: Please email your completed Recommendation form to admissions@molloyhs.org or mail to: Admissions Archbishop Molloy High School 8353 Manton Street Briarwood, NY 11435 NOTE:All award winners will be notified in their Molloy decision letter. All decision letters, including acceptance and award packages, will be mailed out on January 10, 2018. Annual Requirements to maintain a Named Scholarship: • Registration fee paid by the scholarship recipient. • Recipient maintains a 3.0 or higher average. • Recipient must be actively involved in school and/or community volunteer service. If a recipient is unable, he/she will need the approval from the Office of the President, Admissions, or Stanner Alumni Center. • Recipient must be an active member of the Molloy Student Ambassador Program. Duties include volunteering at Open Houses and writing thank you benefactor letters.
