  2. Running of the course • To be held at the Le Strange Hotel: Hunstanton • On Saturdays in 11Jan/ 1Feb/8 March 2014. • Cost £100/day/delegate. • 3 day course.

Aims and objectives • Course to facilitate the development of Associate Trainers, who can feel confident in training Foundation year 2 doctors and GP Trainees. • Skills taught: • -Identification of the trainee learning needs • -Looking at ways of fulfilling those needs • -Learning how to do assessments effectively e.g., CBD’s/COTS/Mini CEX

  4. Pre course survey • Thoughts from the attendees: • Ideas around education. • Concerns about becoming educators. • Expectations from becoming educators. • Reflection on :good educational experience/poor educational experience. • What do you hope to achieve by the end of the course.

  5. Day1:am • 10am start • 10am-10.10 Introduction • 10.10-10.20 Paired group exercise • 10.20-10.50Sharing thoughts • 11.00 till 11.30 Tea break • 11.30How do we identify learning needs • Feedback • Presentation • 12.00 till 1pm Lunch

Day1 :pm • Group activity on addressing learning needs. • 1.00pm-1.10 Role play • 1.10-1.25: Giving effective feedback • 1.25-1.45: Receiving feedback • 1.45-2pm: Reflecting on feedback • 2pm-2.30pm : Tea break • 2.30-3.00pm Making a change based on feedback. • 3pm-3.30pm Review of the day and homework for the next day:

  7. Day2 am • 10am start • 10.10-10.10 • Introduction for the day: How to deliver teaching • 10.10-10.40 Group activity: • 11.00-11.30 Tea Break • 11.30 -11.50 Tutorials • 11.50-12.00: Discuss learning points from this • 12.00 -1pm Lunch

  8. Day2 pm • 1.00pm-1.20pm Introduction to Calgary Cambridge guide • 1.20-1.30 Watch a video • 1.30-2.00 pm Group discussion • 2.00-2.30pm Role play • 2.30-3.00 Tea break for (30 mins) • 3.00-3.15 Feedback • 3.15-3.30 Review of the day: Homework activity

  9. Day3 am • 10.00-10.10Introduction of the day: Assessments • 10.10-10.30 Presentation on e- portfolio • 10.30-11.00 Group work • 11.00-11.30TeaBreak • 11.30 -12.00Group work

  10. Day 3 pm • 1.00pm-1.30pm F2 checklist: • 1.30-2.30 Group work: Barriers to assessment and how to over come them. • Group feedback on the discussion • 2.30-3.00 Tea break • 3.00-3.30 Feedback • 3.30-4.00 Round up

  11. End of course • Give out feedback forms to be completed before a CPD certificate to be given for 5 hrs of CPD per day
