QuickWrite • Remember some examples of fate that work against Romeo and Juliet in Act V: • Friar John’s denial of entrance to Mantua • Balthasarbringing Romeo the half-truth • Romeo’s arrival at the tomb before the Friar • Juliet’s too-late awakening • Are these events purely coincidental or are they are “in the stars”? Does that make the ending more or less significant/powerful? Are Romeo and Juliet more or less pitiful or helpless if everything is out of their hands?
