  5. Indirect Speech I want a divorce now Bill Mary Tina Susan Mary and Bill were arguing. Tina heard Mary said to Bill, “I want a divorce now.”, and then she (Tina) told her friend, Susan, what Mary had said, not in her own words but in an indirect way, i.e. she reported Mary’s words. Mary told Bill that she wanted a divorce then.
