  2. “Treasures” of MAP + COMPASS • Assignments are automatically launched for each student who took the test in Math, Reading, and Language Arts • Assignments are range specific, not grade level specific • Assignments are engaging, challenging activities that teach and review concepts while capturing and holding students’ attention • Compass provides a spiraled curriculum that reviews concepts while teaching new ones

MAP Report Administrators Can Order • Achievement Status and Growth Class Report • Can be ordered after first MAP testing window to provide teachers with Spring RIT goal • Can be ordered after last MAP testing window for teachers to see percentage of students who met or exceeded their Target RIT

  7. Compass Reports • Student Progress—time on task, amount of activities completed, scores for each activity, average scores • Duration Report—amount of time students spend on each task • NWEA Learning Path Status Report—shows you progress of students on their RIT goals in Compass

Keep your eye out for thiscommon COMPASS bilge! • Students learn activity codes for games they enjoy and play them over and over • Students use the Odyssey writer inappropriately • Many students rush through the content just to take the quiz or play the game which leads to poor quiz scores

  10. Setting Decision Points • Great tool for students who rush through assignments and quizzes • Allows students the chance to reach mastery before moving on to the next topic

How to set a decision point • Go to Assignment Builder • Follow “Building Assignments” steps 1-11 on handout • At step 12, choose sequential. • Choose the quiz where would like to add a decision point • Click “Add Decision Point” • Follow the steps on the screen • Complete the assignment by following steps 13-17 on handout

  12. Class Progress Monitoring • Lists assignments for students from all teachers • Allows teacher to monitor the progress of each student on each assignment

  13. Student Portfolio—Backpack • Students can see their progress • You can ask students to open their backpack and show them how they are progressing • Great monitoring tool while in the computer lab

  14. Creating Assignments • Assignments are a great way to have students review or preview what you’re learning in class • Use the directions in the handouts to build an assignment
