  14. More Training http://www.scouting.org/BoyScouts/Adults/Training.aspx Trained leaders provide a quality, fun-filled program for troops. When Leaders understand Boy Scouting, they are more effective in their roles. The Trainer's EDGE • NEW! The Trainer’s EDGE replaces the Trainer Development Conference (BSA 500) as the required train-the-trainer course for Wood Badge and NYLT staffs. It is meant to supplement the practice offered through Wood Badge and NYLT staff development, with a focus on the participant, while raising the level of skill a trainer brings to the staff experience. Only practice can polish these skills, but this course is intended to “train the trainer” on behaviors and resources while offering hands-on experience in methods and media. 2009 Boy Scout Leader Training Conference • Boy Scout leaders will have the opportunity to attend a Philmont-style training conference at the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base the week of January 11–17, 2009. Each conference will be staffed by experienced, informed Scouters. The conference schedule includes ample time to enjoy the mild climate and natural beauty of the Florida Keys.

Supplemental Training http://www.scouting.org/boyscouts/trainingmodules.aspx Supplemental training modules are designed to provide orientation beyond the basic training offered in New Leader Essentials and leader-specific training. Each module is a unit of training that can be used as an outline for a group, for personal coaching, or for self study. Most of the outlines should require about an hour to complete. Consider each unit of study to be an introduction to the subject. Scouters are welcome to download subjects that are of interest for personal or unit use. There are no training credits associated with the completion of these units of study. Additional training units are being developed and will be continually added to this site.
