John F. Kennedy, the first Irish Catholic President of the United States, served from 1961 until his assassination on November 22, 1963. His presidency was marked by significant events during the Cold War, including the Bay of Pigs invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the construction of the Berlin Wall, and advancements in the space race. Kennedy also played a vital role in the African American Civil Rights Movement. Before his presidency, he served as a representative for Maryland from 1947 to 1953 and was involved in covert CIA operations against Fidel Castro.
