  1. Welcome to Parent Night! Thank you for being here tonight. We will be talking about how to reinforce the use of technology within the classroom and at home.

  2. TECHNOLOGY isall aroundus • There's no getting away from it; technology is in schools and is here to stay. • Technology must be integrated effectively if it is going to make a difference in the way we teach and students learn.

  3. We should have a basic foundation in the following: • Microsoft Word • Microsoft FrontPage • Microsoft PowerPoint • Microsoft Publisher • Microsoft Excel • Use of the internet Our children only know what we can teach them!

  4. When help is needed: • Call the schools technology department • It is okay to ask questions! My classroom strives to have a good working relationship with tech staff. The children know how to get in touch with them when the need arises.

  5. The Internet • Safe Use • The Web is a magnificent resource for teaching and learning. • The internet can enrich the learning experiences for our students. • Have a Computer Day at home! • Practice searching for ideas • There is everything imaginable on the internet. Show the children this can be fun!

  6. Be Flexible and Open to New Ideas • Technology is changing everyday • The children can teach you a new skill • Maintain an interest in new ideas
