REVIEWING VIDEO • Students are required to present videos of their sessions each week to you • Students should show a different video each week to their supervisor unless given permission to do otherwise from their instructors • Video reviews will be documented on the Internship/Practicum Weekly Activity Report.

  6. HOW TO COMPLETE EVALUATION FORMS • What would a counselor be doing to demonstrate the evaluation item? • What would a good example be? • What would a not so good example be?

USING THE EVALUATION OF PRACTICUM/INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE Scale • “2” means something occurs appropriately and consistently • “1” means something occurs appropriately but not consistently • “0” means something that is appropriate does not occur at all • “N” means that you have not had the opportunity to observe that particular criterion

  8. CONDUCTING SUPERVISION Things to ask the supervisee: • What are the client demographics? (e.g., age, gender, grade, race, marital status, occupation) • What is the nature of the client's difficulties. What led to the development of the issue? Who else may be involved? • What is your hypothesis? (i.e., what do you think is “going on” with this client?)

CONDUCTING SUPERVISION • What are the most important client strengths and assets and how can you use them therapeutically? • What are the highlights of the client's background that may contribute to the present situation? • How might multicultural factors such as gender, age, religion, and ethnicity impact the client or impact you and your view of the client?

CONDUCTING SUPERVISION • What emotional, cognitive, and behavioral patterns, strengths, and difficulties are characteristic of the client? • What clinical skills did you use to address the client’s difficulties? Give examples. • What specific questions, concerns, or other clinical issues do you want feedback on?
