  1. Nolan, Natalia, Victoria, & Paul Block 3 World Geography Utopia Project

  2. History • Set 63 years in the future, our utopia has existed for 50 years and was founded after a international nuclear war that started in 2016 and lasted to 2024. • AKA WWIII • The War didn’t change any natural features of the world or weather patterns, but nuclear fallout and radiation has caused some dead zones in Northern Russia • The government was founded by the surviving world powers of the war • And show how the world may rebuild after a apocalyptic event

  3. The Government, “The Council” • The Council is the new international legislature of our utopia and functions in a similar manner to our American Senate • All countries, now called “States” now have the same number of representatives in the Council, which is 10 • Each of these representatives, or “Council Speakers”, serve three year terms.

  4. The Responsibilities of the Council • Primarily responsible for resolving issues between states using diplomacy, and result in benefits for the majority • The three major issues handled by the Council are usually involving worldwide Education, Infrastructure, and Transportation. • The other issues are the Advancement of Technology and International Diplomacy. • Other social services like sanitation, traffic, and energy are also meditated by the Council • The council also makes the laws, with the majority vote needed to pass laws into existence

  5. The Council Mediated Military Force • AKA The CMMF is under the control of the Council • Functions as an worldwide police force • Enforce laws and the constant 5% income tax • Primarily used as a means to lessen violence and give people a military career • Was based on the remnants of the US army post war

  6. The Justice System • Based in small courts with small areas of jurisdiction that combine and extend up to the Council. • The courts are expected to be regulated by each state. • Lawsuits challenging laws also brought to the council for debate.

  7. Technology • Very advanced and are relatively distributed equally amongst states • Modern energy needs are now met using renewable natural resources and nuclear power. • The newest nuclear fusion generators for example are used in multistate projects like our space colonies on the moon and Mars.

  8. Health Care • Is available to everyone • Public epidemics are no longer a problem due to recent cures of common diseases • The cures are due to advances in stem cell research and reverse-engineering of past disease strains • People are healthier and more productive

  9. Education • Standard required classroom education starts at age 5 ends at 16, for nine years total • Education varies per state due to cultural issues • The study of Mathematics, Sciences, Literature, History, and Physical Education are the main classes • Other smaller education programs are in place before and after school to help students • All students are taught Diligence, Tolerance, & Temperance to promote productive lifestyles • Most are then encouraged if not helped to go to college by Council funding. • Most college education is still held in a college setting

  10. Social Classes & Family Systems • Racism, sexism, and old forms of social prejudice are at an all time low • Family systems are still influenced by the various state cultures • Most parents are asked to limit themselves to a number of children that they can support • The parents raise their own children, with the normal standards of godparents and adoption are the same as one ones today • Children are born by natural means, and with the availability of healthcare, most children are born healthy

  11. Media & Economy • Media is also still free, but the press is mainly used to educate people of worldwide issues on an unbiased manner, informing the populace of new Council, State, and local events • A mixed economy is also in place, with markets now able to compete between states on a much larger scale with minimal interference from the government • The economy is currently booming, with many new jobs being made because of the new technologies

  12. Problems • The biggest one is over the distribution of the new nuclear fusion technology • There are many states arguing over why only select states are given control and the benefits of the new generators, and many say it is a form of government conspiracy • But the limits of these nuclear arms are so strict due to possibility of past terrorist factions from the War obtaining this tech, and using it as a Weapon of Mass Destruction • Another major problem is how other states have gained higher influence in the Council due to economical and political power in their state • But movements to allow for the impeachments of Council Speakers are being promoted • A new Bill of Rights and Checks and Balances System is also in the works

  13. The End Any Questions?
